Project Manager | The Hague / The Netherlands | Full time

HiiL, a social enterprise that works to enhance access to justice through innovation, is looking for a Project Manager based in The Hague.

As an internationally operating Project Manager, you will develop, co-lead and implement the HiiL projects, in working with HiiL’s Programme Directors and Practices Groups (Justice Research, Justice Transformation and Justice Innovation), in order to achieve the project goals agreed with specific funders which contribute to HiiL’s Mission.

Do you have a broad and flexible toolkit of techniques, resolving complex, interdependent activities into tasks and subtasks that are documented, monitored and controlled? Can you shift readily between the "big picture" and the small-but-crucial details?  Do you enjoy work under pressure and are you comfortable with change and complexity in a very dynamic international environment? And are you familiar with the public sector and social innovation? If your answer to these questions is "yes"- then we are searching for you.

The position:

  • Develops the project plan with the Programme Director, and assesses the content with Business Development department, the donor/client and the leads of the different HiiL Practices and presents the project plan for approval by the donor/client
  • Realizes the project, within budget, conform project plan and donor contract, in a cost effective and efficient manner
  • Supports in staffing and financial resourcing of the project, both in terms of quality and quantity
  • Manages the project team operationally, motivates, inspires, assigns tasks, gives instructions and involves relevant stakeholders
  • Manages the deliverables of the various team members
  • Pro-actively mitigates risks and change requests in order to be administratively compliant
  • Provides timely and quality reporting to management and donors
  • Adjusts or expands the budget and related activities when needed
  • Ensures the delivery of knowledge materials
  • Secures coherence with HiiL’s mission, the different Practices and between other projects

What we look for in our new colleague:

  • 6+ years of proven work experience as a project manager in teams with international professionals
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset
  • Experience in drafting budgets, using spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets) and strong numeric skills
  • Experience with project management software
  • Can inspire and motivate project team staff 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive and hands-on
  • Problem solving mindset and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience with different (European-based) donors
  • The ability to communicate with people from all levels 
  • Strong leadership and team building skills as well as a high level of ethics and integrity
  • Excellent English and Dutch is a must, and a good understanding of French is an asset
  • Preferably experience in a non-profit environment; experience working with projects based abroad
  • Flexibility, ability and willingness to travel frequently to the areas where HiiL works, including potentially insecure environments.

What else:

  • Starting date: 1 September 2021
  • We offer a full time position for an initial period of 6 months with the aim of building a long-term work relationship
  • Holding EU-citizenship or NL working permit.
  • A monthly salary for a full-time working week between € 3.200,- / € 5.000,- based on relevant experience.
