HiiL, a social enterprise that works to enhance access to justice through data, evidence-based working and innovation, is currently implementing a multi-year programme in Tunisia. The goal is to significantly reduce the amount of unresolved legal problems in Tunisia by the end of 2024. In this context, HiiL is expanding the Tunisia team and looking for a “Project Officer - Justice Innovation” to help implement Justice Innovation Labs and deliver training programs to justice practitioners. You will report to the Country Manager in Tunisia and the Programme Director in The Hague.

The position:
- Implements and coordinates Justice Innovation Labs in Tunisia, in close collaboration with the team in The Hague and Tunis. A Justice Innovation Lab is a series of creative Design Thinking workshops in which a diverse group of ±20 stakeholders develop a solution to a pressing justice problem.
- Works together with the Programme Manager in The Hague to design and prepare the sessions of the Justice Innovation Lab.
- Makes sure that different ‘exercises’/design activities of the Lab are well executed by the participants; supports the participants practically and makes sure the intended result of each session is reached. Takes care of all operational aspects.
- Delivers and co-designs a training programme to justice practitioners on how to use data, evidence-based working and innovation to improve access to justice.
- Works together with the Programme Manager in The Hague to draft the proposal for the pilot project as designed in the Justice Innovation Lab sessions.
- Supports the Country Manager in managing the relations with various stakeholders, in particular those from the justice sector.
Our new colleague:
- Has an advanced degree in relevant fields (e.g. law, politics, international relations, business management/economics).
- Has profound knowledge of and three to five years proven experience working in international development, and with non-governmental organisations and/or governments.
- Has proven experience in coordinating and facilitating multi-stakeholders design processes and profound knowledge of Design Thinking.
- Has proven experience in delivering training programs, preferably in the public sector.
- Is a hands-on team player, results-oriented and with excellent organisational and planning skills. Is an all-rounder: able to work on multiple projects and activities at the same time.
- Has strong communication and public speaking skills and experience in connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Has a high standard of ethics and integrity.
- Is willing to travel throughout the country and if necessary to the HiiL Headoffice (travel only required if the situation allows it).
- Is fluent in English, Arabic, and French with excellent writing skills. Translation work might be occasionally required.

What else:
- Preferred starting date: April 2023.
- Position is based in Tunis, Tunisia.
- We are offering a position on a consultancy basis for 12 months with the aim of building a long-term work relationship.
- Full time position, part-time can be discussed.
- Holding Tunisian citizenship or valid work permit.
- A monthly fee for a full-time working week between €1.500,- and € 2.000,- based on relevant experience.
