Senior Justice Sector Advisor - Focus area: Evidence-Based Practice

HiiL, a social enterprise that works to enhance access to justice through innovation is looking for an Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) specialist for the Justice Research and Development team. This team works on data and knowhow on how people experience and resolve justice problems. HiiL operates internationally, with a focus on African countries, the MENA region and the Netherlands. 

As our EBP specialist, your main responsibility will be to develop implementation plans for evidence-based working with organisations of justice practitioners, including judges, lawyers, prosecutors, social workers and providers of informal justice. You will also contribute to developing guidelines and monitoring tools for evidence-based working by justice practitioners.

In this position:

  • You are responsible for developing plans for implementation of evidence-based working; this will require applying implementation science insights to the justice sector where EBP still needs to be developed;
  • You contribute to exploring and develop approaches to stimulate informal justice providers to work with guidelines and best practices and to collecting data about the way best practices are implemented and increase effectiveness;
  • You will explain and substantiate the added value of EBP in the justice sector to relevant stakeholders and work with organisations of judges, lawyers, social workers and providers of legal help, to develop strategies for evidence based working;
  • You are entrepreneurial and are able to apply knowledge from different disciplines in new settings;
  • You ensure that implementation plans are co-created with stakeholders with realistic commitments to improve evidence-based working.

Our new colleague:

  • Has a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social sciences, change management, empirical legal studies or health care management.
  • Has profound knowledge and 5-10 years experience in consultancy, in providing justice, health care or other professional services in the public domain.
  • Has at least 5 years of working experience in implementing evidence-based working in the field of health care, therapy, in criminal justice or another relevant profession.
  • Has advanced knowledge of implementation science and implementing evidence-based working in various settings.
  • Has result-oriented, strategic/analytical focus, is socially strong and adaptable.
  • Has full professional proficiency in English; verbally and written. Knowledge of Dutch, Arabic and French are an extra asset.
  • Has experience in and/or strong interest in working in an international environment.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, is proactive and hands-on.
  • Is able to work under time pressure.

What else:

  • Starting date: June 1, 2021.
  • We offer a 40 hour / week position for an initial period of six months with the aim of building a long-term work relationship.
  • Holding EU-citizenship or NL working permit. For non-residents a service provider contract is negotiable.
  • A gross monthly salary for a full-time working week between € 4.500,- / € 5.700,- based on relevant experience.
